Her Life
Though born in High Point, North Carolina, Sandi grew up about sixty miles to the east, in Durham, North Carolina. Since 1989, she resides in Huntersville, a growing suburb in the Charlotte metropolitan area.
Even as a child, she
spent her summer vacations in her bedroom reading and writing poems and
short stories. Her favorite reads were Little Women and Black Beauty.
She is an avid reader and student of books.
Sandi received her A.A. degree from Central Piedmont Community College before completing her B.A. and M.A. degrees at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte--in English and Rhetoric & Writing. As a life-long learner, she enjoys teaching others the
art and science of writing by teaching part-time at CPCC and Montreat
College.
When
not pursuing her passions for writing and teaching, Sandi loves to
travel, especially to Paris, Charleston, and San Francisco--“the three
prettiest cities on the earth.”
She has been married to her husband, Barry, for over two decades and enjoys spending time in church, especially when hearing her son, Jeremy, preaching. At her side, you will usually find her trusted friend and partner-in-writing, Neely (the family dog).
In recent years, Sandi has rediscovered the joy of seeing the world through the eyes of children--especially her grand-children: Chase, Chesney, and Railey and in the new life of her great-niece, Kayley.
